FAQ s... Q: You are going to do what ? Move aboard a sail boat ?!?!?!?! A: Yes and we did on September 23, 2006 BTC became our full time home. September 2007 found us as "dirt dwellers" to take advantage of a contract offer and earn some "boat bucks" to buy new boat toys. November 2008 found us back aboard and sailing the Bahamas. January 2010 we are again "dirt dwellers" for a contract job. Do you see a pattern here ? Q: Where are you going ? A#1: Wherever the wind blows of course, after all it is a sail boat A#2: South A#3: We went to the Bahamas for our first cruising season, then back to the US for Steve's graduation in May of 2007 and Steve and Jenny's Wedding, Oct 27, 2007 !!! Cruising season 2008-2009 will find us visiting the Out Islands of the Bahamas. But remember, a cruisers plans are made in jello, as they change with the wind and the weather. Q: Where are you going to dock the boat ? A: Well, most of the time we plan to anchor out and not be at the dock. We have a nice 55 pound anchor. Theoretically, that should be big enough to use as a storm anchor, but we will use it for everyday anchoring. Northwest Creek Marina in New Bern, NC is our home port and where we have a slip for hurricane season. Q: Where will you be anchoring out at ? A: Our first season was in the Bahamas. We saw many of the islands but have many more to see. We returned to the Abacos, in the Bahamas in 2008-2009. 2010 we will not be cruising but hope to cruise again in 2011. Q: What is a 'dirt dweller" ? A: A dirt dweller is someone who has to live on land instead of being lucky enough to live on a boat |
